The Nutritional Pharmacist – About Me

Pharmacist, Nutritional Therapist, Life Coach and Functional Medicine Practitioner

About Gemma

I specialise in helping people get to the root cause of their symptoms and supporting them on their path to feeling more like themselves again.

I have worked as a Pharmacist for over 10 years and have an in-depth knowledge of medicines and their side effects. As a Pharmacist, I always had an interest in health and nutrition. However it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition myself that I began to look for the root cause of WHY it happened.

From my own experience and research I have learned that factors such as genetics, environment, and lifestyle can influence our health and wellness and play a role in long-term health and complex chronic diseases. I am a Functional Medicine Practitioner, which means that I look at each person holistically, and not just their symptoms.

During my training to become a Life Coach with the Irish Life Coach Institute I did lots of research on the mind body connection, and how emotions and stress affect our bodies and our overall health. I use coaching techniques to address behavioural change and limiting beliefs that clients may have with regard to their health.

This inspired me to study Nutritional Therapy with the College Of Naturopathic Medicine, and in 2021 I qualified with Distinction.

I have since enrolled with the Institute For Functional Medicine and have become a Functional Medicine Practitioner.  Functional Medicine is a patient centred approach that involves understanding the origins, prevention and treatment of diseases. It focuses on the uniqueness of each patient, along with both internal (mind, body & spirit) and external (physical and social environment) factors the affect a person as a whole. Functional Medicine focuses on the cause of a disease rather the disease itself.

I know first-hand how it feels to be attending doctors and consultants and not feeling any better because of it. I know how confusing it can be to go for blood tests and be told ’everything looks fine’ while you’re still not feeling well. I know how frustrating it can be to be told to ‘come back in six months and hope for the best’.

I also know how empowering it is to be able to take your health and wellbeing into your own hands. If you are ready to do this I would love to help you on your journey.

Using my Pharmacy, Nutritional Therapy, Coaching and Functional Medicine expertise I will develop a Nutrition and Lifestyle Plan that works specifically for you.
